Milwaukee Bucks: Damian Lillard Admits He Dreams of Playing for Portland Trail Blazers Again

It has now been over four months since Damian Lillard took his talents to the Milwaukee Bucks. So much has happened since his big move, and he’s now firmly established himself as a beloved fan-favorite among the Milwaukee faithful.

His brief time with the Bucks, however, pales in comparison to the 11 years he spent with the Portland Trail Blazers — something that will all be coming back to him on Wednesday night when he returns to the Moda Center for the first time since his summer blockbuster trade.

Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard’s Blazers Confession

Speaking ahead of what is surely going to be an emotional homecoming for the former Blazers cornerstone superstar, Lillard came out with a blunt confession about wanting to someday reunite with the same team that drafted him as the No. 6 overall pick back in 2012.

According to Dame, he still dreams of suiting up for Portland somewhere down the road:

“I see there being a time where I play for the Trail Blazers,” he said, via Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian. “But it won’t be right now. I play for the Bucks. To accomplish what we want to accomplish, you’ve got to be all in on that. And I was traded and I’m all in to try to accomplish that here.”

Lillard did make it abundantly clear, however, that his loyalty currently lies with the Bucks. As such, he will do everything he can on Wednesday to take down his former team in front of his former fans.

Be that as it may, Lillard’s confession here likely means that he won’t be retiring with the Bucks. He came to Milwaukee to win a championship and it seems that he has every intention of leaving once he gets the job done.

For what it’s worth, Dame, 33, is currently under contract with the Bucks through 2027. He has a player option for the 2026-27 season, though, which means that it’s possible that his stint in Milwaukee has a three-year expiration date.
