It isn’t just Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo who will be representing the Milwaukee Bucks for the upcoming NBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis. As it turns out, Malik Beasley will be joining them after the veteran guard was invited to take part in the highly-anticipated 3-Point Contest.
Beasley has been vocal about wanting to take part in the competition and it appears that he has now gotten his wish.
REPORT: Milwaukee Bucks’ Malik Beasley Will Join 3-Point Contest
According to NBA guru Shams Charania, Beasley has committed to participate in the 3-Point Contest along with defending champion Dame Lillard. Joining them in what has turned out to be a star-studded line-up are Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers (the home-town favorite), Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks (the player who lost out the final All-Star starting spot to Lillard via a tie-breaker), and Lauri Markkanen (the dude who led the Utah Jazz to a 123-108 victory over the Bucks on Sunday night).
Beasley may be the least popular player among the bunch, but the fact that he’s currently leading the NBA in 3-point field goal efficiency only means that he’s going to be anything but a nuisance candidate in the competition.
Dame obviously has his work cut out for him.
Beasley Gets His Wish
Beasley has been leading his own campaign for a spot in the 3-Point Contest, and he’s now getting his wish. The 27-year-old recently stated that he believes he is one of the best shooters in the league at the moment and that he absolutely deserves to be in the 3-Point contest.
“Yes, I feel like I have deserved to go (to the 3-Point Contest) the last couple of years, especially this year,” Beasley told Shams Charania of The Athletic. “I’m leading the league in 3-point percentage. God forbid, I want to continue that. But yeah, I deserve to be in the 3-Point Contest. I’ve always wanted to be in it. I think I can win it.”
The NBA has answered his call and he’s now going to have to walk the walk.
