It’s official. The Chicago Bulls will be shorthanded on Thursday night when they take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. This is after the team provided an unfortunate injury update on star shooting guard Zach LaVine just before tipoff.
Zach LaVine Ruled Out Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
As reported by Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, it was Bulls head coach Billy Donovan himself who declared LaVine as out for Thursday’s contest. The two-time All-Star was initially listed as questionable to play but has now been officially ruled out.
LaVine exited Chicago’s last game — a brutal 124-97 blowout loss to the Boston Celtics — due to a sore right foot, which is the same issue that will force him out of Tuesday’s showdown against the Bucks.
At this point, it remains to be seen when the 28-year-old will be able to return to action for Chicago.
Alex Caruso Will Play Vs. Bucks
The good news for the Bulls is that Alex Caruso has now been upgraded to available. He too was initially listed as questionable to play due to a left toe strain, but he will now be forced to play through the issue with LaVine sidelined. Caruso should see an uptick in his minutes with LaVine sidelined.
As of writing, DeMar DeRozan is still questionable to play with his status likely being updated right before tipoff.
