The Milwaukee Bucks are now just two wins away from becoming the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament champions. This is after they took out the New York Knicks in the quarterfinals on Tuesday via an impressive 146-122 blowout win.
At this point, there’s no denying that the Bucks already have their sights set on the inaugural NBA Cup.
Brook Lopez Vocal on Milwaukee Bucks’ IST Title Quest
Speaking to reporters after Tuesday’s big win, Bucks veteran Brook Lopez expressed his excitement over Milwaukee taking the next step toward the IST title:
“I’m excited to experience it,” Lopez said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Obviously we’ve come this far, we’ve done well. I can’t wait to be in Vegas and truly experience the first In-Season Tournament championship or final four, whatever it is.”
Lopez played a key role for Milwaukee yet again during Tuesday’s victory over the Knicks. The former All-Star logged nine points on 4-of-8 shooting, to go along with one triple, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks, and zero turnovers in 34 minutes.
All Business for the Bucks
The job is not finished, though. As Giannis Antetokounmpo put it, the team’s upcoming stint in Las Vegas is a “business trip” — a notion that Lopez agrees with completely:
“That’s absolutely the mindset,” Lopez said. “It’s something really cool to be a part of for the first time. It’d be pretty awesome to make the Bucks the champions of the first In-Season Tournament.”
The Bucks will now test their mettle against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night in the semifinal. Another win will take Milwaukee to the championship game against the winner of the semifinal matchup in the West between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans.
