Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard returned from a one-game absence on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics. Dame, however, had a relatively light night of work as the Bucks blew their opponents out of the water pretty much from the get-go.
Lillard played just 27 minutes in this one, finishing with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting, to go along with three triples, four rebounds, four assists, and zero turnovers.
The Bucks made a statement on Thursday night, taking down the league-best Celtics in an absolute blowout, 135-102.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Reacts to Massive Win
Lillard has had his fair share of big games in the past, and Thursday’s Eastern Conference marquee matchup was no different. According to Dame, he doesn’t believe the Bucks did anything extra special to come out on top against Boston. They just did what they were set out to do, and the rest just fell into place.
“I think you gotta hold onto the feeling,” he said. “I think the biggest thing is, like I said, we didn’t do anything special. But we could all feel how it felt when we just did our job. We got into the ball. We were physical. We didn’t give them anything easy.
“When a team has to work for everything offensively, those shots aren’t as comfortable — even if it’s a shot that they normally shoot. If they’re getting bumped, getting chased off the line and ridden over screens and they gotta work for it, you’re a little more tired, a little more uncomfortable taking those shots.
“So I think we just gotta hold onto that feeling of what we did and what it caused for a really good team and we gotta try to just have some carry over with that.”
It’s the Golden State Warriors up next for the Bucks. They host Stephen Curry and Co. on Saturday at the Fiserv Forum in another matchup between two teams with championship aspirations this season.
Thursday’s performance was an impressive one for Milwaukee — arguably their best one of the season. As Dame said, however, so long as they do their job, the Bucks are more than capable of being this dominant night in and night out.
