The Milwaukee Bucks have made some big moves in the offseason to make sure that their current core remains intact. After all, this is the same group that bagged the NBA title a couple of years ago, so you can’t really blame the Bucks for banging on the same drum despite of their lack of success over the past two seasons.
Be that as it may, this doesn’t mean that Milwaukee should rest on their laurels. Much like the rest of the NBA, the Bucks should also explore any and all possibilities to further strengthen their squad ahead of what is going to be a brutal 2023-24 season.
Milwaukee Bucks Land Terry Rozier From Hornets in Trade Proposal
The guard position is one particular area wherein the Bucks could improve on. James Piercey of NBA Analysis Network believes that a move for the Charlotte Hornets’ high-scoring guard, Terry Rozier, could pay dividends for Milwaukee. However, they will need to give up a major haul for the former 16th overall pick.
Below are the details of the trade proposal:
Charlotte Hornets Receive: F/C Bobby Portis, G/F Pat Connnaughton, G/F MarJon Beauchamp, 2028 First-Round Pick (MIL)
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G Terry Rozier
Last season, Rozier averaged a career-high 21.1 points for the Hornets. He took 18.9 shots per game, though, which is a luxury he likely won’t have if he takes his talents to Milwaukee. Apart from his scoring and his ability to hit the deep ball (he knocked down 2.6 triples per game last season), the 6-foot-1 combo guard also logged 4.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest, making him a potentially valuable all-around asset for the Bucks.
“He could function as an elite sixth man for this club. Rozier can create offense from scratch. By adding him, the Bucks could have a player who does so on the floor for all 48 minutes. Meanwhile, Rozier’s ability to shoot will make him a natural fit alongside the starters as well,” Piercey wrote.
Milwaukee Bucks Give Up Major Haul
Rozier won’t come for cheap, though. In Piercey’s proposal, the Bucks have to give up key veteran Bobby Portis. They also part ways with promising forward MarJon Beauchamp as well as a future first-round pick, both of which will significantly impact Milwaukee’s outlook for the future.
Be that as it may, Rozier might just be worth his weight in gold. The Bucks need win-now pieces — as made evident by their offseason moves — and this is exactly what Rozier brings to the table. In fact, this is the type of trade deal that could potentially make or break the Bucks’ title aspirations this coming season.
