The Milwaukee Bucks aren’t the first name to come out of an average NBA fan’s mouth when you ask them about potential NBA champions. While the team boasts one of the best one-two punches in the association, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are far from young.
Moreover, many don’t favor the roster as strongly as the other heavy hitters in the Eastern Conference. While Khris Middleton is a superb basketball player, many would agree that he’s not the best option as the third cog in a big three when other players can handle the role without worrying about Middleton’s injury history.
It may seem like the Bucks are dismissed as serious championship contenders as even the league didn’t add them to their marquee Christmas Day games lineup. However, the trio that carried the Bucks last season are still aiming for the top as they share their goals for the coming season.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Big Three share their aspirations for the coming season
FOX6 Milwaukee’s Steve Mergargee was present when the trio was asked about their expectations for the coming season, and fans may have varying reactions to what their key trio aspires to achieve in the coming campaign.
Antetokounmpo is focused on taking things one step at a time, with his goal referring to the team’s first-round exit last season:
“We’ve got to get out of the first round,” the two-time MVP said during the Bucks’ Media Day event Monday. “Let’s start with that.”
Lillard understood that fans and analysts were disappointed with his performance in Milwaukee and will look to show a better version of himself moving forward:
“I do know that my teammates and my coaches, they’re going to get the real version of me this year,” Lillard said.
Middleton has plenty of pressure on his shoulders as the third option, with his injuries placing big question marks on his long-term future with the team. His objective shows how aware he is of the questions surrounding him:
“I will be on the court as much as possible during this week, so we won’t be playing catch-up as much,” Middleton said.
The Bucks’ immediate future hinges on how the season will play out. With teams like the Golden State Warriors lurking around Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee must make as deep a playoff run as possible.
Based on the answers of the three best players on the roster, it seems like the team is all-in on having the best possible season and securing their squad for the next couple of seasons.
