Giannis Antetokounmpo talked about how playing in the Olympics was one of the best experiences of his entire life, right up there with winning an NBA championship in 2021.
Representing Greece at the Olympics was definitely a huge honor for Antetokounmpo. Just like most other athletes, it feels different to play for flag and country, and it seems that Antetokounmpo never took the opportunity for granted.
Greece was able to make it to the quarterfinal round despite winning just a game in group play. The team opened up its campaign in Paris in an 86-79 loss to Canada before suffering an 84-77 defeat at the hands of Spain. Then Antetokounmpo and company took down Australia in a thrilling contest to the tune of a 77-71 score. However, Greece failed to get past reigning World Cup champion Germany in the quarterfinals, as the Greeks fell prey to Dennis Schroder and the Germans, 76-63.
Antetokounmpo carried most of the load for Greece in Paris, as he averaged 25.8 points while shooting 67.8 percent from the floor. He also had 6.3 ravens and 3.5 assists in four games.
But the focus now for Antetokounmpo is on the Bucks, who will be looking to bounce back stronger following a first-round exit in the 2024 NBA playoffs.
