The Milwaukee Bucks will have five free agents they could either re-sign or not this NBA offseason. Milwaukee will be very active in free agency and they will also be looking to make trades to help improve the roster for next season.
It will be interesting to see what direction general manager Jon Horst decides to go in. The main goal is to get better around Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. There will be a lot of rumors and other news going on throughout the NBA offseason.
Will they target younger players or will they still go after veteran players? The Bucks will have to see what fits the team the best.
Bleacher Report Andy Bailey Thinks the Milwaukee Bucks Realistically Should Go After 13-Year NBA Veteran Alec Burks
Burks will be a free agent and the New York Knicks will most likely not bring him back for next season. Alec Burks was one of Tom Thibodeau’s favorite players, but the Knicks are moving in a total different direction. New York is looking to improve its bench play even more and maybe get a second star for Jalen Brunson.
The reasoning that Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report gave as to why the Milwaukee Bucks should make this move during NBA free agency is as follows:
“His numbers plummeted this season, but that was due in part to a fluctuating role, and Alec Burks would still be a solid addition to the Milwaukee Bucks’ wing depth with a veteran minimum contract.
He’ll be 33 in July, and he’s probably best suited to a catch-and-shoot role, but he can still create a bit in a pinch. And though he’s not a high-end defender, his size (6’6″ with a 6’10” wingspan) makes him theoretically switchable on that end.”
Bailey also thinks that the Milwaukee Bucks would spend somewhere between $1.2 million to $3.3 million on Burks. This would be an interesting choice because the Bucks have some hefty contracts on the roster.
However, the Bucks need to get younger and not older. Last season with the New York Knicks, Alec Burks played in 66 games. He averaged 10.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.2 BPG, and 0.4 SPG. Lastly, signing Burks would also help improve the bench scoring for Milwaukee.
