One of the top Wisconsin basketball targets and in-state recruits has announced he will forgo his Senior year to play for OTE.
Kai Rogers, a four-star center in the 2025 recruiting class, is a Milwaukee native who starred at Wauwatosa West High School. Rogers announced earlier today he would skip his Senior year of High School to play in the OTE League, or Overtime Elite as it is better known. The league consists of eight teams of 16-20-year old collegiate targets with major sponsors such as Gatorade and GMC.
Wisconsin Basketball Target Kai Rogers Joins Overtime Elite League Over Senior Year of High School

Heading into his final year of High School at Wauwatosa West, 2025 four-star center Kai Rogers announced that he will join the Overtime Elite League. The move for the center means he will no longer attend Wauwatosa West for his Senior year, and would rather play for one of the eight league teams. Rogers is just one of many players joining the new wave of basketball that could potentially alter his future in the sport.
How Could the Switch to OTE Impact the Recruitment of Rogers for the Wisconsin Basketball Staff?

As confusing as it may seem, Rogers is not a professional player but rather a member of a private, elite skills league. The player base consists of 16-20-year old athletes who have either graduated High School already, or are playing out their High School career with Overtime.
The OTE League was created in 2021, and has since produced multiple NBA drafts picks and top collegiate signees. For example, Ian Jackson was ranked 10th overall in the 2024 recruiting class and after playing for OTE, Jackson signed his NLI with the University of North Carolina.
Rogers is still eligible to play collegiate basketball, which means his decision to join the league will not alter the recruitment he is receiving from the Wisconsin basketball staff. However, joining the league and getting a chance to play against premier competition for a year could attract much bigger programs towards Rogers.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Staff Still Land Kai Rogers?

With his move to the OTE League, Rogers is likely putting the state of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin basketball staff in the rearview. Rogers will join Overtime through scholarship, which will allow him to maintain his collegiate eligibility. The powerful center does not have any major offers outside of the Big Ten or Big 12, which will certainly change after his lone season in the OTE League.
