Milwaukee Bucks rumors: Through the years, there have been a few father-son/coach-player combinations in the NBA. Most recently, the pairing of Doc Rivers and his son Austin Rivers during their time together with the Los Angeles Clippers.
At this point, the Bucks might be able to give first-year head coach Adrian Griffin to replicate this same feat.
Milwaukee Bucks Linked to Hawks’ AJ Griffin
According to Max Griffith of Behind the Bucks Pass, Milwaukee could do far worse than AJ Griffin, who recently lost his spot in Atlanta’s rotation. This means that the 20-year-old forward could be available at the right price.
Below are the details of the trade proposal:
Milwaukee gets: AJ Griffin
Atlanta gets: Pat Connaughton, 2024 Second-Round Pick (via Portland), 2027 Second-Round Pick
Last season, Griffin averaged 8.9 points and 2.1 rebounds, while also connecting on 1.4 triples on a 39.0-percent clip. The former Duke standout did all that in 19.5 minutes per game, which could be valuable for the Bucks if Griffin is able to recapture his old form, or perhaps even improve on it.
You just know that Adrian Griffin would not be opposed to this move.
What’s In It for the Hawks?
The Bucks will need to give up a significant amount of assets in this risky move, though. However, getting an experienced NBA champion in Pat Connaughton could be the big draw for a Hawks side that is in need of more veteran leadership on their team.
“They would basically be giving up their first-rounder from last year for some more experience on a relatively young squad. Connaughton has shown he can perform in the playoffs so that at least helps his price tag a bit. The 2024 second via Portland would be a nice enticer for Milwaukee to offer in this deal,” Griffith wrote.
