The Milwaukee Bucks want to bring the NBA All-Star Weekend back to the Cream City for the first time in five decades, and they have finally taken the first step to do just that.
According to the latest reports, the Bucks are bidding to host the NBA All-Star weekend in 2027 or 2028.
Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA All-Star Weekend Bid
Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report dropped the news on Saturday, noting that Bucks are making a bid for the 2027 or 2028 All-Star weekend to be held at Fiserv Forum.
The All-Star festivities are being held in Indiana this 2023-24 season. For 2024-25, it heads to San Francisco with the Golden State Warriors hosting. The Los Angeles Clippers, meanwhile, are going to handle the event for 2025-26 when the team is projected to open their new arena.
That leaves the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons still open for hosting, and sure enough, the Bucks are hoping they could land the hosting rights for any of those campaigns.
For those not in the know, the Bucks have last hosted the All-Star Weekend in 1977, per BR. Should they be awarded the hosting rights for 2027 or 2028, that would mean a 50-year wait for the city.
Milwaukee Bucks Deserve NBA All-Star Hosting Rights
With the Milwaukee Bucks rising as an NBA powerhouse, the team definitely deserves some respect when it comes to hosting major league events.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to be with the team for the years to come, so they are likely to remain as one of the top dogs in the league. Sure enough, it only feels right to have them host the All-Star Weekend.
It is also worth mentioning that Wisconsin hasn’t had an All-Star Game in any professional sport since 2002, so the excitement and anticipation should be at an all-time high if the NBA were to give the winning bid to the Bucks.
With the Green Bay Packers hosting the NFL Draft in 2025, the next few years could be an exciting time for the city of Wisconsin.
