Milwaukee Brewers team leader Willy Adames has and is going to continue to be listed in trade rumors leading up until the July 30 deadline. Despite the Brew Crew being in command of the National League Central there is still some belief that GM Matt Arnold could flip the league’s best impending free agent shortstop.
With numerous talented infielders already in place behind Adames a theoretical deal would most certainly have to address Milwaukee’s glaring need for starting pitching. On Fansided the blog Around the Fog Horn hinted at this possibility, but also used the rational of the San Francisco Giants acquiring Adames to thwart the Los Angeles Dodgers plans of acquiring him.
San Francisco Giants blog lists Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames as a trade target.

After spending money this off-season on Blake Snell, Jordan Hicks, Jung Hooe Lee, Jorge Soler, and Matt Chapman the Giants currently find themselves below .500, but still among a cluster of teams in position to compete for the final wild card spot. Nick San Miguel of Around the Fog Horn writes that shortstop is a position that they could have to reevaluate at and that perhaps the Brewers would consider trading Adames to them because they feel they would be less of a threat than the Dodgers.
Theoretically, the Giants could improve at the shortstop position. They have cycled through several players after Nick Ahmed got injured. Right now, Brett Wisely has been playing great both offensively and defensively at the shortstop position. However, if he cools off before the trade deadline the Giants may be forced to reevaluate their options at shortstop.
What players could the Milwaukee Brewers get by sending Willy Adames to the San Francisco Giants?

Nick San Miguel suggested that the Giants could pair Alex Cobb and Marco Luciano in a trade package. Cobb is a veteran right-handed starting pitcher with a career 3.85 ERA. The only issue with him is that the 36 year old underwent off-season hip surgery, experienced a setback in his throwing program, and has not pitched at the big league level this year. Luciano is the Giants top prospect per MLB pipeline, he has made his MLB debut already, and his bat speed is electric and produces high exit velocities.
In all likelihood, the Giants would have to give up at least one player that could help the Brewers immediately. They might have to give up a package consisting of Marco Luciano and Alex Cobb or something like that which they may not be willing to do.
The Milwaukee Brewers would be better off targeting a controllable starting pitcher like Kyle Harrison in a potential Willy Adames trade scenario.

Milwaukee trading for a currently injured starting pitcher when they already have Joe Ross, DL Hall, Wade Miley, Jakob Junis, Robert Gasser, and Brandon Woodruff on the injured list doesn’t seem like the best move. Even if Cobb became healthy by July 30 the Brewers would only have control of him for a few more months because he too is an impending free agent.
What Milwaukee could do is ask for southpaw Kyle Harrison in a deal. He has started 14 games for the Giants this year and has a 3.96 ERA. The 22 year old isn’t eligible for free agency until 2030 and has a few more years left before he reaches arbitration.
If the Brewers are going to trade Willy Adames acquiring a healthy starting pitcher that can help them now would be in their best interest. In this scenario Kyle Harrison would be preferred over Alex Cobb, but it would negate Milwaukee’s chances of also acquiring Marco Luciano.
