Jeferson Quero’s add is no surprise. The 21 year old ascended up several prospect ranking boards last season due to a breakout offensive season in which he belted a career best 16 home runs in 90 Double-A games. Behind the dish his defense was again impressive as ever and is highlighted by a throwing arm that most don’t even dare to test.
Bradley Blalock, who was acquired during the Luis Urias trade, was also added. The 22 year old has an impressive power curveball and a fastball that sits in the 92-95 MPH range. Across 15 starts in 2023 he finished with a 2.82 ERA and 67 innings pitched.
Other notable prospects who are Rule-5 draft eligible include Freddy Zamora, Justin Yeager, and Evan McKendry. They will likely go unprotected this December, but stand a less likely chance of being selected when compared to Jeferson Quero and Bradley Blalock.
