The Milwaukee Brewers have had some great first basemen throughout the history of their franchise. George Scott was with the organization from 1972-1976, Cecil Cooper 1977-1986, Richie Sexson 2001-2003, and Prince Fielder from 2005-2011. Recently news broke that one of them will be receiving a prestigious honor.

On April 20, 2024 a ceremony for the 74th class of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame will be held. Current members include but is not limited to Hank Aaron, Barry Alvarez, Dick Bennett, LeRoy Butler, Ron Dayne, Donald Driver, Brett Favre, Rollie Fingers, Don Hutson, Harvey Kuenn, Curly Lambeau, Vince Lombardi, Paul Molitor, Bud Selig, Robin Yount, and many more. The 2024 inductees include Steve Stricker, Matt Kenseth, and Prince Fielder.

Selected seventh overall by the Brewers in the 2002 MLB draft out of High School was Prince Fielder. He debuted in the big leagues three years later and went on to set some franchise records during his seven years with the organization. Currently he is the franchise leader in career on-base percentage (.390), slugging percentage (.540), on-base plus slugging percentage (.929), single season home runs (50), single season RBI (141), single season walks (114), and is tied with Robin Yount for the most extra base hits in a season with 87.

After the Brewers deep post season run in 2011 Fielder inked a nine year, $214 million contract with the Detroit Tigers. In Detroit he put up incredible numbers for two seasons and then was traded to the Texas Rangers. With Texas neck issues plagued him and eventually caused him to retire sooner than expected.
