Milwaukee Bucks news: One could argue that the Indiana Pacers can only go as far in the Playoffs as Tyrese Haliburton will take them. Based on recent history, however, it does seem that the All-Star point guard is very much capable of leading his team to a first-round upset of an ailing Milwaukee side.
The fact that the Pacers went 4-1 against the Bucks in the regular season is a clear testament to this notion.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Tyrese Haliburton Gives Thoughts on Upcoming First-Round Showdown
Malika Andrews of ESPN recently spoke with Haliburton about what’s ahead for Indiana. When asked about his confidence level entering their first-round series against Milwaukee, the Oshkosh, Wisconsin native expressed just how much self-assurance the Pacers have in themselves:
“We’re coming in a fully confident group,” he said. “We feel like we can play with anybody in the NBA. We felt that way all year. We’ve proven that all year. That’s not gonna change just because we’re in the Playoffs.
“For me, Wisconsin’s home. I’m gonna feel comfortable being back home.”
Simply put, the Pacers have beaten the Bucks multiple times this season, and they’re pretty confident about being able to do that again in the postseason — especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo out injured.
The Rivalry Ensues
Haliburton and the rest of the Pacers are also very much looking forward to renewing their brewing rivalry with Milwaukee. These two teams have had some fierce battles in the regular season, which includes Giannis Antetokounmpo charging the Indiana locker room after a game, and both sides will be eager to face off again on the court.
“That’s just exciting for everybody to compete against a team who we’ve had some really competitive games with this year. I think that’s exciting for our group,” he said.
"We're a fully confident group." 💪
