The Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres squared off for a day game on Wednesday, April 17. San Diego had won the first two games of the series by wide margins and was looking to complete a series sweep on the road whereas Milwaukee was looking to get back on track and play better baseball as they committed five errors during the first two games.
It was a bullpen by committee day for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Long reliever Bryse Wilson was the opener for the Brewers in this contest. He covered 3.2 innings, Bryan Hudson 2.1, and then Elvis Peguero, Abner Uribe, and Joel Payamps all pitched one inning a piece. All together they allowed just five hits, two walks, struck out just three, and did not allow a run as Milwaukee won this game by a score of 1-0.
Abner Uribe had perhaps the play of the game for the Brewers. After allowing a leadoff triple in the eighth inning he managed to keep the game tied at zero by inducing a pop up to second base, a strikeout, and then recorded the final out after making an incredible sling to first base after fielding a ground ball hit in no mans land.
Now sure what was better, the play to preserve a scoreless game in the 8th, or the celebration. pic.twitter.com/uhy64DsWqy

Michael King had a no-hit bid going into the seventh inning for the San Diego Padres.
Padres starter Michael King was phenomenal in this game as he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. During his no-hit bid his defense had some incredible plays behind him that included a diving catch at first base late in the ball game. Willy Adames was the player to break up the no-hitter by hitting a bloop single. King’s final stat line ended up being 7.2 innings pitched, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. Ultimately he was charged with the loss in this game.

How did the Brewers manufacture their only run in this game?
Milwaukee managed to score their only run in this game during the eighth inning. With one out in the inning Brice Turang battled back from being down 0-2 in the count and hit a single. He then stole his league leading ninth base of the season and was brought home by a two out RBI hit from Blake Perkins.

The Brewers have an off day on Thursday and then start another road trip. Over the next 13 days they won’t have a day off and will face the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates on the road and the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays at home.
