The Milwaukee Brewers have swung two trades within the span of five days. They first brought in Carlos Santana from the Pittsburgh Pirates and on Monday night they acquired Mark Canha from the New York Mets.
After Milwaukee’s game in Washington on Monday night the Brewers revealed their plans for Mark Canha. They also provide when they expect to see him in his first game.
Plans for newest Milwaukee Brewers player Mark Canha revealed.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell indicated that they expect Mark Canha to be active for their game against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, August 1. The Mets were off on Monday but had been preparing for a Tuesday game in Kansas City.
As for where he will fit into the lineup, the plan right now is to have the extremely versatile defender play a lot of right field. Counsell also indicated that this will shift Sal Frelick into center field. Joey Wiemer will initially be the odd man out, but per Counsell he will still have plenty of DH at-bat opportunities and he plans on mixing and matching his outfielders.
This year the statistics show that Mark Canha has been an average offensive right fielder. Milwaukee has struggled to get production out of this position, so hopefully he can provide a boost throughout the final two months of the regular season.
