The Milwaukee Brewers had a pair of pitchers earn prestigious awards from Major League Baseball for their efforts on the mound during the month of July. Corbin Burnes was the NL Pitcher of the Month and Devin Williams the NL Reliever of the Month. During August the Brewers had another pitcher get recognized for his outstanding performance.
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta was awarded the August NL Pitcher of the Month award.
Freddy Peralta put together an incredible month of August. The Brewers won every game that he started as he additionally managed to collect five wins. He covered 30 innings, had a 2.10 ERA. 0.90 WHIP, 46 strikeouts, and a 162 opponent batting average.
In order to earn this award Freddy Peralta had to fend off some pretty good competition. Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves made six starts, struck out 46, had a 2.97 ERA, .094 WHIP, and .165 opponent batting average. Additionally his teammate Charlie Morton had a 1.91 ERA over five starts, covered 28.1 innings, and struck out 37.
Outside of the Braves Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres had a 3.00 ERA over five August starts in which he covered 30.0 innings and struck out 37. Lastly Pittsburgh Pirates Johan Oviedo had a 2.92 ERA over six starts, threw 37 innings and had a complete game.
It is nice to see Freddy Peralta be chosen for the NL Pitcher of the Month for August over some pretty good competition.
