The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds wrapped up their season series on Wednesday, July 26. Freddy Peralta was on the mound that afternoon and he put together a spectacular performance that flirted with Brewers history.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds: Freddy Peralta flirted with history.
In this game Freddy Peralta threw six innings of scoreless baseball. He also allowed just four hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out 13 Reds players. His 13 strikeouts in a single game without allowing a walk tied him for the third most in franchise history.
Other pitchers with a 13 strikeout and zero walk game include Corbin Burnes in 2021 and Dave Bush in July of 2008. Ahead of him with 14 strikeouts and no walks is Yovanni Gallardo in 2012 and Corbin Burnes in 2022.
Corbin Burnes also holds the franchise record 15 strikeouts with no walks allowed that was set in August of 2021 against the Cubs. That is the same game where he struck out 10 batters in a row.
This was a much needed performance from Freddy Peralta. His season ERA this year is still inflated at 4.46 after this outing, so hopefully this gets him back on track.
