The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be in the market to acquire starting pitching help. Per Jim Bowden of The Athletic and Jon Heyman of the New York Post they believe that the Los Angeles Angles have an All-Star performing starting pitcher who will be traded. Could the Brewers turn to the Angels for a trade?
The Milwaukee Brewers have dealt with numerous injuries to their starting rotation.

Before the 2024 season started the Brew Crew re-signed Brandon Woodruff knowing that he would be a long shot to pitch in 2024. Any idea of him returning this year has since been turned down and the team has proceeded to lose Wade Miley, Joe Ross, Jakob Junis, Taylor Clarke, DL Hall, and most recently Robert Gasser to injury. Adding another quality arm alongside Freddy Peralta should be a priority for GM Matt Arnold.

As mentioned above Jim Bowden and Jon Heyman have both reported that one Angels pitcher in particular will be traded this year. The player that they are certain about being dealt is southpaw Tyler Anderson. He is currently in the second year of a three year, $39 million deal and will make another $13 million in 2025.

Around the league other controllable lefties such as Garrett Crochet and Jesus Luzardo are going to command the most expensive trade packages from a prospect capital standpoint. This could open the door for Milwaukee to pursue a veteran like Tyler Anderson while not sacrificing as much from their farm system. Additionally his modest $13 million 2025 salary should be within their financial limits as they gave Wade Miley $8.5 million in free agency this winter.
The Brewers are familiar with Anderson from his Pittsburgh Pirates days, but he really has blossomed the past few years. He was an All-Star with the Dodgers in 2022 (2.57 ERA – 178.2 innings pitched) and he has a 2.63 ERA currently across 13 starts this year with the Angels.
A trade proposal could look look something like this:
Brewers receive:
- LHP Tyler Anderson
Angels receive:
- OF Luis Lara
- INF Filippo Di Turi
Last year the Angels farm system saw a lot of players leave. They’ve traditionally done well early on in the MLB draft at selecting players with good MLB outlooks, but they lack international talent. This deal gives Los Angeles two international players from the Brewers in which Luis Lara is ranked seventh overall and Flippo Di Tura 29th.
Digging deeper Lara is a 19 year old from the 2022 international signing class that hits for contact from both sides of the plate. Flippo Di Turi signed in 2023 and has a 50 grade hit tool. The 18 year old recently earned a promotion to Single-A.
If you were the Brewers or Angels would you make this deal?
