Milwaukee Brewers top prospect outfielder Jackson Chourio signed a contract extension with the organization before even playing a game in the big leagues. On Sunday, he signed an 8-year contract extension worth $82 million, along with club options for the 2032 season and the 2033 season.
Chourio is only 19 years old and he has a very bright future ahead of him at only 19 years old. With this contract extension for him, Chourio may be going to skip Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds and start the 2024 season with the Brewers.
Because of this, general manager Matt Arnold is starting to field calls on some outfielders on his roster. Chourio is going to be a cornerstone piece for this franchise for years to come. For the 2024 season, expect him to be the team’s starting center fielder. Along with that, expect Christian Yelich to start in left field and have Sal Frelick start in right field for Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Brewers Top Prospect Jackson Chourio Had a Solid Career in the Minor Leagues and Now It is Time for Him to Shine in the Big Leagues
Chourio only spent a couple of years in the minor leagues after being signed as an international free agent on January 15, 2021. The Milwaukee Brewers found a gem with this player and he did very well throughout the minor leagues. Chourio spent most of last season in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers before ending the season in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds.
During his minor league career, he had a.286 batting average with 47 home runs and 191 RBIs, along with 68 stolen bases. Jackson Chourio also had a .347 on-base percentage and a .837 OPS. These were very good numbers for him in the minor leagues. It is time for him to shine in the big leagues for the Brewers.
The Brewers organization is banking on him to be one of the biggest stars in all of baseball for years to come. Some of the big names in baseball are Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles, Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners, and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies.
A lot of Brewers fans are also hoping one day that he will lead the franchise to somewhere that has never been accomplished: a World Series Title. Time will tell what happens but this is nothing but a bright future for him and the organization as well.
