Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell received awesome news this week as he was medically cleared to start playing in live games. Since early May he has been recovering from shoulder surgery after he injured his labrum sliding into third base. He now is in Triple-A Nashville and will stay their until the completion of their season.
Garrett Mitchell has joined the Nashville Sounds on a rehab assignment and could join the Milwaukee Brewers this season.
No matter what happens on rehab assignment Garrett Mitchell will spend the next nine days in Nashville playing with the Sounds. He appeared in just 16 games before getting injured and now it is time to get some live at-bats and repetitions underneath his belt.
Sunday, September 24 is when the Triple-A regular season concludes. This means theoretically Garrett Mitchell could return to the Brewers for their final week of the regular season.
His return from surgery is quite incredible for at one point it was thought that he had an outside chance of returning as a pinch runner. He now will be looking to prove that he can help a playoff bound Milwaukee team during their most important part of the season.
