The Milwaukee Brewers 2023 postseason run was brief and did not extend into the divisional round of the playoffs. However there are eight former members of the organization who are on playoff rosters. Teams with former Brewers on their divisional round rosters include the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Which former eight Milwaukee Brewers players are on divisional round playoff rosters?
On the Texas Rangers is a pair of former Brewers relief pitchers. Will Smith, who pitched with Milwaukee from 2014-2016 is a member of his third different playoff team in as many years. He was a World Series Champion in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves, 2022 World Series Champion with the Houston Astros, and now is alongside former Brewer Matt Bush in the Rangers bullpen.
Also in Texas, but with the Houston Astros are three former Brewers players. Martin Maldonado remains behind the dish for the Astros. Former top prospect Mauricio Dubon is coming off the bench for Houston, but played a significant everyday role with the team earlier in the year when Jose Altuve was out with an injured thumb sustained during the World Baseball Classic. Lastly, power hitting Jon Singleton made the playoff roster and is the third former Brewers player on their roster.
In the National League the Arizona Diamondbacks have Jace Peterson on their playoff roster. He was a late addition during the Wild Card Series, but did not appear in a game against his former Brewers teammates. Since coming to Arizona via trade this year he has struggled and right now has a limited role with the team.
On the west coast the Los Angeles Dodgers have veteran infielder Kolten Wong on their playoff roster. He was designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners earlier in the year, signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers, and eventually was called up to the big leagues.
Lastly, on the Atlanta Braves is 2023 All-Star starting shortstop Orlando Arcia. His numbers dipped during the second half but he finished the regular season with a .264/.321/.420 slash line with 17 home runs, 65 RBI, and a 98 OPS+.
