The Milwaukee Brewers acquired talented left-handed pitcher DL Hall via trade with the Baltimore Orioles. A season ago Hall had regular and post season success as a reliever. He owned a 3.26 regular season ERA and then in the American League Divisional Series he tossed 3.1 innings, allowed zero hits, walked one batter, and recorded six strikeouts.
DL Hall reflects on his success in the bullpen and how he will carry that over as a starting pitcher in 2024 for the Milwaukee Brewers.
This off-season Hall has been training and preparing as if he was going to be competing for a spot in the starting rotation. That mentality has not changed since being traded to the Brewers a few weeks ago. He indicates that he learned some things in the bullpen that will help him in 2024.
“For me I think it’s just about attacking hitters and not trying to be too fine. I feel like I did a good job with that in the bullpen. Just going right at guys and not trying to be perfect. Just kinda letting that carry over into starting will be big for me.”

From a numbers perspective Hall threw pitches in the zone 52% of the time last year while having an outstanding 69% first pitch strike rate. His ability to strike batters out is incredible, so if he can build off of attacking hitters and confidently throwing pitches in the zone he could easily be a breakout pitcher in the Brewers rotation this year.
