Just two weeks after receiving his second National League Reliever of the Year award, the good news keeps coming for Milwaukee Brewers‘ Devin Williams.
It was announced on Saturday that Williams would be on the roster for the All-MLB Second Pitching Team. Per MLB, the “All-MLB team accounts for the totality of the entire season while honoring MLB players as a whole.” Basically the best players across the league are recognized for their efforts this season as being selected as part of First Team or Second Team.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Star Pitcher Makes All-MLB Team
Devin Williams held an 8-3 record with a 1.53 ERA, 0.920 WHIP, 13.3 K’s per game, 2.6 WAR, 36 saves, and 87 strikeouts this season. He was selected for the All-Star Game earlier this year for the second year in a row, and finished 19th in the NL MVP voting.

After the Brewers traded Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres, Williams was made Milwaukee’s full-time closer and he did not disappoint. With an insane changeup dubbed “the airbender”, Devin Williams has crafted himself into one of baseball’s most dominant pitchers.
In his career, he holds a 1.89 ERA with a 26-10 record, 1.028 WHIP, 54 saves, with 337 strikeouts. Hader was named to the All-MLB First Team for 2023 along with the AL Reliever of the Year, Felix Bautista. Emmanuel Chase of the Cleveland Guardians joins Williams on the Second Team.
He won NL Rookie of the Year in 2020, where he allowed just one earned run in 22 appearances in that COVID-shortened year. Not only that, but he secured his first NL Reliever award, along with a seventh-place finish in the Cy Young voting and even received a vote for NL MVP.
The Brewers have Devin Williams under team control until 2025, so it’s best that they make use of their time with him wisely, as he probably won’t be a member of the Brewers in the long-term future.
The last time a member of the crew was on the All-MLB team was in 2021 when the then NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes was selected for First Team. This is the second time Williams has been selected to the All-MLB team, earning honors back in 2020 as well. Outfielder Christian Yelich was named to the All-MLB First Team back in its inaugural year of 2019 along with Josh Hader, respectively.
Milwaukee Brewers’ star Devin Williams earns a spot on the All-MLB Second Team, marking another high in his impressive career. For more on this achievement and all the latest updates, head over to our Milwaukee Brewers News section, where we cover every angle of your favorite team’s journey.
