Injuries to the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation have left them thin at the position. Brandon Woodruff is out until late June, Aaron Ashby may potentially return late in the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, and Wade Miley was recently placed on the injured list.
Given this situation Milwaukee may be forced to add an external starting pitcher mid-season. One team that may be looking to sell quicker than others is the Chicago White Sox. Earlier this year comments were made regarding a potential White Sox fire sale and we took a look at nine players who could be trade targets. Ace Lucas Giolito was among this group for he is a rental player with a high likelihood of being traded. Not listed was starting pitcher Dylan Cease, but a blockbuster trade to send him to the Brewers could be worth exploring.
27 year old Dylan Cease finished second in the American League Cy Young voting last year as he posted a 2.20 ERA, threw 184 innings, and struck out 227 batters. He has two and half years of club control remaining so it will cost any team a lot of capital to acquire him. However his continual increasing price tag or potential desire for an extension to buy out his arbitration years is something to keep in mind.

Blockbuster trade proposal lands the Milwaukee Brewers Dylan Cease from the Chicago White Sox.
Proposed Trade:
Milwaukee Brewers receive:
- RHP Dylan Cease
Chicago White Sox receive:
- LHP Ethan Small
- SS Eric Brown Jr
- INF Tyler Black
- OF Tyrone Taylor
This trade has the Brewers parting ways with three top 30 prospects that does include two in their top six overall Both Small and Brown were recent first round draft selections and Black was a competitive balance pick. A trade like this gives the White Sox three solid pieces to include in their future plans should they elect to rebuild.
Also included is a solid outfielder in Tyrone Taylor who has had to compete for playing time each year with the Brewers. Parting ways with him would leave the Brewers a bit thin in the outfield seeing how Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick are both injured, but top prospect Jackson Chourio is knocking on the door of the big leagues.
For the Brewers, they not only get much needed help this year in their starting rotation but they gain another talented pitcher who is under club control longer than both Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff. Depending upon what happens in the future with those two, acquiring Dylan Cease would help give them security in the starting rotation should one or both depart in the upcoming years.

A Trade for Cease Has to start with Churio. That trade proposal would be good for Giolito but Cease has a much higher ceiling.
Sure. You give me your ace for a few pieces.
If, IF this makes sense for the Brewers, they won’t do it. OR if they do make the deal, they’ll lost this pitcher next year, so honestly who cares anymore. This team is a joke!
