On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers will have an off day after starting training camp on Monday. Since the start of training camp, Jordan Love has reported to the team and is present, but will not practice until he and the organization reach a new contract extension. Love and Gutekunst expressed their desire for a contract to be agreed upon before training camp began earlier this offseason.
Obviously, that didn’t happen.
Negotiations are not hostile, as should be noted. There is currently no doubt that Love is going to be extended. Details of the contract, however, are taking longer than expected to iron out.
However, one recent report has NFL fans turning on Love.
NFL Fans Roast Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love
According to Derek Hyrn of Athlon Sports:
The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love are reportedly nearing a historic contract.
As expected, Love is currently holding out of team training camp until it happens.
“They’re optimistic about getting the deal done, and they understand why he’s not practicing,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Monday on the Pat McAfee Show. “That’s a sign that they’re trying to get this worked out. I think both sides think they can get it done.”
Schefter mentioned that Love participated during the start of offseason and went through all of the drills, downplaying the issue that he’s missing the opening days of training camp. “He’ll be there,” Schefter said of Love eventually returning to practice.
When fans saw Love won’t practice until he is paid, and he’s expected to be he highest paid QB in NFL history, they reacted on social media:
Can someone send me the number of Jordan Love’s agent? I am hoping to get overpaid for my work.
