Catcher William Contreras joined the Milwaukee Brewers during the off-season as a part of a three team trade. The former Atlanta Brave was an All-Star in 2022 as he put up big power numbers a season ago. This year he is showing his ability to collect hits and he has a career high 10 game hitting streak to begin his Brewers career.
According to Mike Vassallo, just five other Brewers have had hitting streaks of 10+ games to begin a season. Those players are Dickie Thon, Steve Hovley, Dale Sveum, Ronnie Belliard, and Rickie Weeks.
Impressively, William Contreras has done this in his first 10 games as a Brewer. Dickie Thon’s 13 game hitting in 1993 also came during his first 13 games to begin his Milwaukee career.
William Contreras has hit safely in each of his first 9 games, tying the longest hitting streak of his career (8/9-8/17 last season).

Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras has a career high 10 game hitting streak.
William Contreras extended his hitting streak to 10 games during the fifth inning of Thursday night’s game against the San Diego Padres. That single was his 13th hit of the season in which all of his hits have come to the opposite field or up the middle.
Right now he has just two extra base hits on the season (both doubles). Last season he had a slugging percentage of .506 with 20 home runs, so the power will come.
For now, it is nice to see him collecting his hits! Hopefully he can keep this hitting streak going even longer.
