Milwaukee Brewers rookie pitcher Abner Uribe had a tremendous first season in the big leagues. He was called up a few days before the All-Star break and ended up appearing in 32 games. It did not take long for him to earn manager Craig Counsell’s trust, he became a late inning high leverage option, and overall had a 1.76 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched.
On the mound he has a deadly fastball that is often seen in the triple digits and a wipe out slider. The advanced numbers on his slider are ridiculous in which opposing batters collected just two hits off of it (0.80 BA) and whiffed 58.1% of the time. Overall opposing batters had a .154 average against him and they struck out 30.7% of the time.
Upon returning home to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Abner Uribe was honored in the streets with several Brewers jerseys visible.

Abner Uribe originally signed with the Brewers in 2018 at 18 years old and for $85,000. According to Baseball America at that time he had a low-90s fastball. The next year it reached the mid 90s, and by the time he got to the instructional league in 2020 he touched 101 mph.
Aside from losing a minor league season in 2020 due to the pandemic, Abner Uribe also had his development slowed down due to a knee issue requiring surgery. He appeared in just two games for the Biloxi Shuckers in 2022, but ended up having a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League.
After the AFL Milwaukee had to decide to add him to their 40-man roster in order to protect him from the Rule-5 drat, or risk another organization selecting him. They ended up protecting him and now figures to be a key piece of the Brewers bullpen going forward.
