The #4 Marquette Golden Eagles have won seven straight games because Tyler Kolek has played a huge role in their success. He was named the Big East Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Marquette has an 18-5 overall record this season and a 9-3 Big East Conference Record. The Golden Eagles only played in one game this past week and it was on Saturday against the St. John’s Red Storm and they won that game by a final score of 86-75.
One of the reasons why Tyler Kolek won Player of the Week in the conference was because he scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds, recorded 13 assists, and also recorded two steals for Marquette. In 23 games played so far this season for the Golden Eagles, he is averaging 15.6 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 7.5 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 1.7 SPG.
In order for the Golden Eagles to win basketball games, Kolek needs to be a scorer and a facilitator. It is hard for the Golden Eagles to win basketball games when that doesn’t happen. He was the conference player of the year a season ago and could be in contention again to win it.
Kolek is one of the reasons why Marquette could be a one-seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. They are currently one of the number two seeds and head coach Shaka Smart has his squad always prepared.

Kolek is the engine of this college basketball team no matter how much talent the Golden Eagles have around him. They will have two road games this week against the Butler Bulldogs and the #1 UCONN Huskies and will see Kolek rise to the challenge once again for the Golden Eagles.
