The Milwaukee Bucks have an older roster heading into the 2023-2024 season, but they will need some youth injected into the rotation and MarJon Beauchamp could potentially fit the bill for this basketball team. The potential starting lineup for Milwaukee this season will be Brook Lopez, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Grayson Allen, and Jrue Holiday.
Off the bench potentially will be Bobby Portis Jr., Pat Connaughton, and Jae Crowder. Along the lines, the Bucks are going to need some younger and fresher legs off the bench this season in order that the older players don’t get worn down. This is why MarJon Beauchamp could potentially get a bigger role in the Bucks rotation this season under head coach Adrian Griffin Jr.
Beauchamp was a rookie a season ago for the Bucks and he averaged 5.1 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 0.4 SPG in 52 games played. It will be interesting to see what his numbers will look like in his second NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks.
He was the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and is 22 years old and will be 23 years old before the NBA begins. The question begs, will he receive more play time in his second NBA season or will he just be a guy on the backend of the bench for this basketball team?
Sam Vecenie of The Athletic said about MarJon Beauchamp:
“I don’t think what we saw of Beauchamp changed my evaluation of his game in either direction. Beauchamp was exactly who scouts thought he was entering his rookie season. Nobody would question how hard Beauchamp plays, as his motor is the best part of his game. At 6-foot-6 with a 7-foot wingspan and a 200-pound frame, he looked like he belonged athletically as an NBA wing. He crashes around the court, rebounds agressively and plays a tough-minded defense with switchable qualities. To me, his best chance at earning a role in the NBA was always going to involve trying to be the strongest defensive player he could. That remains the case, and I think he’s going to be a good defender.”
When Beauchamp was in the G-League in 2021-2022, he averaged 15.0 points per game but most of his scoring came off of broken plays. Two of the players that he could potentially steal minutes from this season are veterans Jae Crowder and Malik Beasley.
MarJon Beauchamp will have competition for the Milwaukee Bucks

Other than MarJon Beauchamp, there will be some other young players on the Bucks roster that will also fight for playtime this season. Andre Jackson Jr. is another player that comes to mind as he was a second-round pick (36th overall) in the 2023 NBA Draft and he was on the UCONN Huskies team that just won the National Title. He is only 21 years old.
Beauchamp and Jackson Jr. are both forwards so will see where they are on the depth chart. Forward Chris Livingston, who is only 19 years old, and Lindell Wigginton, who is only 25 years old, is a guard and also looking to make the roster this season for the Bucks.
MarJon Beauchamp needs to prove in training camp and the preseason that he can score and also defend at a high level to get valuable minutes alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee Bucks need to have more youth on the roster getting minutes this season. They are in win-now mode. Beauchamp has a few players he needs to beat out in training camp to get minutes.
