The college football season is coming to a close. Most teams are preparing for one last game to end their season. For many coaching staffs, the focus has now become recruiting. With the transfer portal being highly utilized this year and players decommitting due to coaching changes, there is still a lot of work to do for the coaching staff. Wisconsin especially has its work cut out for them. The Badgers have lost a lot of players since their coaching changes but they are looking to replenish. Luke Fickell is ramping up his recruiting efforts.

Luke Fickell Understands The Importance Of Recruiting
One thing that Luke Fickell did well at Cincinnati is recruiting. He was able to put together competitive teams despite not being in a Power 5 conference. Taking Cincinnati to the College Football Playoff shows how Fickell can get talent and maximize it. Recruiting is not done alone. It takes a team of people and Fickell is utilizing his team. Three of his former assistants at Cincinnati, Mike Tressel, Colin Hitschler, and Mike Brown, are all out recruiting right now.
Badgers Need To Make A Big Splash
The numbers of the Badgers 2023 class are becoming concerning. There are now 8 committed recruits for the 2023 class. This is not what you want to hear if you are a Badgers fan. There is one reason for optimism. All teams are dealing with the mass exodus of players to the transfer portal. It is a new landscape as entering the transfer portal no longer requires a player to sit for a year. The Badgers can still make a big splash by grabbing some recruits in the transfer portal. They will need to do something to fill the void of talent.
Luke Fickell knows the importance of recruiting. While this year may get a little hairy, I expect future years to be much more solid.
