Before the Milwaukee Bucks faced off against the reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets at home Monday night, former NBA big man and current ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins said that the aforementioned game was a “must-win” for Doc Rivers and the Bucks. Perkins doubled down on that notion again following Milwaukee’s 112-95 triumph over Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.
“People say I just be saying anything… when in actuality I’m speaking from experience!!! Carry the hell on,” Perkins tweeted following the big win by the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks Are Starting To Show Signs Of Real Improvement Under Doc Rivers
The Bucks were coming off a 120-84 win last Friday at home over the Charlotte Hornets heading into the rematch versus the Nuggets, but there wasn’t much that Milwaukee proved in that win against the lowly Charlotte squad. It was the Denver game Monday night that was more crucial and would provide a better context about how much progress the Bucks had already made under Rivers up to that point. Fortunately for the Bucks, they emerged victorious in an absolutely dominant fashion against the Nuggets.
The Milwaukee Bucks shot 50 percent from the field and hit 16 of their 34 attempts from behind the arc while limiting the Nuggets to only 38.3 field goal percentage and 27.5 3-point shooting percentage. That was the perfect revenge for the Bucks, who lost to Denver in Rivers’ Milwaukee coaching debut late last January in Mile High City to the tune of a 113-107 score.
