Kam Jones scored 34 points against the DePaul Blue Demons last week for the Marquette Golden Eagles. On Sunday afternoon against the Xavier Musketeers, he repeated the same performance and Marquette dominated the game over Xavier by winning by a final score of 88-64.
Jones also grabbed two rebounds and recorded one assist. Kam Jones has been the best scorer on Marquette’s basketball team this season other than Tyler Kolek. Jones is averaging 15.8 points per game this season for the Golden Eagles.
Three other players scored in double figures for Marquette. Oso Ighodaro scored 12 points. Tyler Kolek recorded another double-double for Marquette with 11 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists. Kolek continues to get his teammates involved for the Golden Eagles and this is why they are one of the best teams in the country this season.
David Joplin also scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for head coach Shaka Smart. With the win, they improve to 21-6 on the year and 12-4 in Big East Conference play.
Four Players Score in Double Figures for the Xavier Musketeers Against Kam Jones and the Marquette Golden Eagles
Sean Miller is the head coach of the Musketeers. His players couldn’t stop Kam Jones from scoring on Sunday night, but they were able to have four players reach double digits anyway. With the loss, they drop to 13-14 on the season and have a 7-9 record in conference play.
Trey Green led the way with 16 points for the Musketeers. Quincy Olivari scored 14 points, Dailyn Swain scored 11 points, and Dayvion McKnight scored 10 points for Xavier. This was an easy win for the Marquette Golden Eagles on Sunday night.
It will be interesting to see if they move up from number seven in the AP Poll on Monday. Marquette is preparing for a deep March Madness run and they will be tough to beat if Jones is going to score over 30 points on a night-to-night basis because they are a very deep basketball team.
