Jordan Love is catching the eyes of both local and national media after three-straight standout performances.
After solid outings over the Chargers and Lions, Love was faced with the tough task of going toe-to-toe- with Patrick Mahomes, widely considered the top quarterback in the NFL at the moment.
But the Packers’ first-year starter didn’t flinch. The moment was never too big for him.
Love helped propel Green Bay to a 27-19 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night and finished the game 25-of-36 for 267 yards and three touchdowns, a far better closing stat line than Mahomes.
Love Praised By Colin Cowherd After Beating Chiefs
FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but earlier this season, he questioned whether Love had the ability to lead the Green Bay Packers and take over as the Franchise QB after the departure of Aaron Rodgers.
After Sunday night’s performance, Cowherd had a much different stance when it comes to Jordan Love.
“They’ve got confidence now with Jordan Love within the building,” Cowherd said. “That’s why tonight was really crucial. And you saw it a little bit against the Chargers, a lot against the Lions and really a lot tonight.”

Cowherd then references Love’s slow start to the year.
“Jordan Love did not have it in the preseason and in September. We kept saying they’re babysitting him, they are coddling him, let him throw it. It was just slow growth, let’s wait until we’re comfortable, let’s let this thing develop, the Packers knew better.”
The Packers Coaching Staff Has Confidence In Jordan Love
Anyone who has been watching the Packers all season understands exactly what Cowherd is now noticing.
While the Packers have passed the ball far more than they have rushed it in 2023, it felt like a lot of the game plan early in the season was based on quick hitting throws or safe check-downs, screens and simple throws as their first-year starter grew into his comfort zone.
Now?
It’s completely obvious Love has won over the confidence of Matt LaFleur and the Packers’ coaching staff.
They are allowing to let Love play to his strengths and sling the ball downfield, even in unconventional situations.
“If you watched them tonight, I mean Kansas City’s defense is good,” Cowherd added. “And Green Bay hit on a lot of big third downs. On a lot of big plays. Not a lot of people have done that on this Chiefs defense. I was sitting there thinking, yeah, Green Bay is the better team tonight. It wasn’t a fluke.”
Over the last three weeks, Love ranks No. 2 in the NFL in passing yards per game (285.7), has the second best touchdown to interception ratio (8-0) and is tied for second with a passer rating of 116.9.
While there is still a long season to go, it’s hard to envision the Packers missing the playoffs if Love continues to perform at this level. No matter how the season ends — and while it’s doubtful most Packers fans have Super Bowl aspirations this season — the biggest question appears to have been answered.
The Green Bay Packers have solidified their future franchise QB.
