The Bucks defeated the Hornets tonight without Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. The Hornets were also missing players but this also shows how deep the Bucks team is. One player who has played well all season, especially on the defensive end is Brook Lopez. He had another great defensive performance tallying a whopping 6 blocks tonight. He is having these types of performances more often than not. This blocks stat shows how dominant Brook Lopez has been.

Blocks Stat Shows Brook Lopez’s Dominance
This is not the first time this season that Lopez has gotten at least 6 blocks. He has done it two other times this season. The rest of the NBA has done it once. He has three times as many 6+ block games as the entire NBA. It is no surprise that he is the early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. His rim protection has been the best in the NBA and is a huge reason why the Bucks’ defense is so highly rated.
His Offense Isn’t Bad Either
While Lopez is not going to put up Giannis or Middleton-type numbers, his offense is also very good. At the end of the first quarter tonight, he hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer from near the logo. His ability to stretch the floor for the scorers on the team is a huge part of the offense. His 15 points per game are essential for the offense and every so often he will have a huge night. He isn’t a zero on offense which means that the opposing defense has to put some attention on him.
We all knew that Giannis was going to be good and that Holiday and Middleton would be key parts of the team. No one saw this type of season coming but it is a welcome sight. If the blocks keep coming for Brook Lopez, I expect him to be in the running for many awards.
