Only 111 days until Packers football kicks off! Last week, I predicted the outcome of the first four weeks of the season. Here are my predictions for weeks 5-8! (And please remember, a lot can and will change between now and September 11th.)
Week 5: vs. New York Giants (in London)
Result: Win
I can’t see the Packers losing their first ever international game, especially against a weaker team in the Giants. This game is sure to have a lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding it. The Packers will put on a show for all of their fans from across the pond.
Week 6: vs. New York Jets
Result: Win
I do think the Jets will be better this season than they were last year, but they’re still rebuilding. If the Packers don’t play down to their opponent, this should be an easy win for them, especially at Lambeau. Aaron Rodgers should outplay Zak Wilson by a mile, and the Packers’ defense should prey on Wilson’s relative inexperience.
Week 7: @ Washington
Result: Win
Can you say four-game win streak? Even though this is an away game, I think it will be a similar situation to the Jets game the week before. If the Packers don’t overlook the Commanders and Carson Wentz, they should get a win on the road. I think Green Bay’s defense will have a field day against Carson Wentz.
Week 8: @ Buffalo
Result: Loss
This is my pick for game of the year. Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers on Sunday Night Football on a (probably) chilly, late October night in Buffalo. I expect this to be a close battle all game long. Unfortunately, I think Buffalo’s home field advantage will play a major role in this game, and it will ultimately give them the edge.
I can see this game coming down to a last second field goal. Even though I think Buffalo will come away with the win, it’ll be a great game that will give the Packers a taste of playoff football in the middle of the season.
Predicted record after eight weeks: 5-3
After 8 weeks, I have the Packers at 5-3. I think they’ll be in a good position to string together a few more win streaks and take an early lead in the NFC North, setting themselves up for another division crown.
