Only 117 days until the Packers play their first game of the 2022 season! The NFL released each team’s schedule Thursday night. Ever since, fans have been predicting the outcome of each game. I’m going to join in on the fun, but please remember that these are very early predictions. A lot can and will happen between now and week one on September 11th!
Week 1: @ Minnesota
Result: Loss
For some reason, I just don’t feel good about this one. Last season’s disastrous week one performance in Jacksonville against the Saints lingers in my head. The Packers were incredibly rusty, and playing on the road puts them at even more of a disadvantage. In addition, the Vikings have been the Packers’ biggest threat in the division as of late, and Minnesota has signed former Packers who will be hungry to perform well and make Green Bay regret letting them walk. For these reasons, I think the Packers start the season in the losing column.
Week 2: vs. Chicago
Result: Win
Aaron Rodgers will continue to own the Bears, and what better time to do so than at Lambeau on Sunday Night Football for the whole country to see? I think the Packers will bounce back from a disappointing week one and earn their first victory of the season against their arch-rival.
Week 3: @ Tampa Bay
Result: Loss
Two words: Tom Brady. Four other words: Aaron Rodgers in heat. Something about this matchup just doesn’t give me much confidence. I REALLY hope the Packers come out of this edition of the Tampa/Green Bay matchup on top, but I just don’t have much confidence that they will. I can see it now… If the Packers do in fact start the season 1-2, the media will say the sky is falling in Green Bay.
Week 4: vs. New England
Result: Win
Welcome to Lambeau, Mac Jones! The Packers will have a statement to send to the NFL world after starting 1-2, so they’ll come out ready to go at home against the Pats. Not even the power of the hoodie will stop them in this matchup. Cheers to .500.
Predicted record after four weeks: 2-2
Spoiler alert: Before you get too upset with me, I do think the beginning of Green Bay’s schedule will test them the most, along with the end (stay tuned for that). The middle of the schedule is definitely the easiest on paper, so they’ll bounce back and find themselves winning a lot of games.
