The Minnesota Vikings activated wide receiver Justin Jefferson off of injured reserve on Tuesday and this will have many impacts on other NFL teams including the Green Bay Packers. Jefferson has not played since Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs and has been dealing with a hamstring injury ever since.
Minnesota will be on a bye week in Week 13 and Jefferson will be back for Week 14 action. So far this season, he has caught 36 passes for 571 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Justin Jefferson is averaging 15.9 yards per reception this season and has been targeted 53 times.
He is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL when healthy. They are getting him back in time for the wild card race in the NFC. Minnesota has a 6-6 record so far this season. The Green Bay Packers have a 5-6 record and they are the eighth seed in the NFC. This will be a tight playoff race until the very end of the regular season.
Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings face the Green Bay Packers In Week 17 With a Potential Playoff Spot on the Line
On New Year’s Eve on Sunday night football, the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers will face each other for the second time this season. Minnesota won the first matchup against Green Bay and Jefferson did not play in that matchup. He will more than likely play against the Packers.
It is unknown what is going to happen by the time Week 17 rolls around. The Packers’ cornerback situation has been crazy all season long. Jaire Alexander has not been healthy all season long and everyone wanted to see Alexander go at it with Jefferson.
Eric Stokes is trying to get back onto the playing field and has dealt with his own injuries. Rasul Douglas was traded to the Buffalo Bills before the NFL trade deadline. Kelsean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, and Corey Ballentine have been the primary healthy cornerbacks as of late for Green Bay.
However, when Week 17 rolls around, it is possible that they could have the same record heading into the game. It could be a possible elimination game for both teams. The Green Bay Packers had their backs against the wall last season when facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17 and won that matchup convincingly. There will be a lot of drama when Justin Jefferson faces the Packers’ defense then.
