There is clearly no solution in knowing where Aaron Rodgers will be next season. Multiple media members have made their cases as to what they think will happen, but nothing is confirmed. The decision comes down to whether or not Rodgers is all-in as to what Green Bay’s plans are. If he stays, Jordan Love is out. If he goes, it is Love’s time. For the heck of it, we are going to analyze things as if Aaron Rodgers is gone. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that this scenario would mirror a rebuild for the Packers. Jordan Love is not going to throw for 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. It is just not going to happen. Despite a rebuild, there are two ways that Green Bay could make an Aaron Rodgers trade work in their favor:
Trade For a Veteran Backup Quarterback

As mentioned above, Jordan Love will have his struggles in 2023 should he be the starting quarterback. It is going to be important for him to learn as he goes along during the season. The best way to combat this is to have a veteran quarterback at his side to mentor him and step in if need be. Two players that come to mind that would be a great addition would be Mitch Trubisky or Nick Foles. Both Trubsiky and Foles are not only well experienced, but also have track records of winning in the NFL. Green Bay has a ton of young talent on offense, which making winning, not rebuilding, the forefront of the future. Another positive takeaway would be that the Packers could get either player for a very cheap deal. Make no mistake, Jordan Love will be the guy in 2023 if Aaron Rodgers is not around. However, Green Bay needs a backup for in-season in the event things do not go well.
Create A Trade Package That Builds Talent Around Jordan Love
One of the biggest mistakes in Brian Gutekunst’s tenure as general manager is the way that he did not adequately supplement the loss in the Davante Adams trade last offseason. Green Bay did get some young talent in Davante Wyatt and Christian Watson; however, Gutekunst could have done more. AJ Brown went for two draft picks that the Packers had going into the 2022 NFL Draft. Instead, they sat idle and depended on the ‘Draft and Develop’ philosophy. Brian Gutekunst is going to have to learn real quickly that a young quarterback needs talent around him to be successful. A few examples here are Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts. All three quarterbacks have extremely talented weapons around them. To make this work, Gutekunst will need to create a trade package for Aaron Rodgers for early round draft picks and utilize those picks around Jordan Love. Players that can be real game changers and make Love better are Quentin Johnston, Jordan Addison, Dalton Kincaid, and Jaylen Hyatt. The message is simple for Brian Gutekunst: do not make the same mistake twice.
