The Green Bay Packers have become somewhat of an example for teams to follow around the league.  Jordan Love appears to be the third straight franchise quarterback after Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.  While there is much too early to tell if he’ll ever get in their stratosphere, he is certainly off to a good start.

Meanwhile, most of the Packers’ NFC North Rivals are searching for their next quarterback.  That includes the Minnesota Vikings who just lost another former starting quarterback.

A new quarterback has been added to the San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback room. Josh Dobbs has signed a one-year contract with the team, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. On social media, McCartney announced the acquisition.

As part of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Dobbs (6-3, 220) out of Tennessee in the fourth round (No. 135 overall). According to Pro Football Reference, he completed 262 of 417 passes (62.8 percent) for 2,464 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 13 games (12 starts) with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals last season.

After Kirk Cousins’ Achilles injury ended his season last year, the Vikings traded for Dobbs.

Where Does This Leave The Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Room?

It is no secret that the Vikings are stocking up on draft picks this season to potentially trade up for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.  They recently traded for the Houston Texans’ first round draft pick (23rd overall).

As part of the deal, the Vikings kept their own first-round pick, No. 11, which they could in theory package with the No. 23 pick to move up in the first round.

The Vikings are in the worst possible spot when it comes to the quarterback: drafting one when you need one.  The Packers drafted one three years early and it seems to be paying off.
