The Green Bay Packers absolutely shook the NFL world this week. Reports started to surface that the Packers were in fact IN on the Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes. The Indianapolis Colts decided not to trade Taylor, for now, however, there has been one big development in the trade that shows the door is not completely shut.
Green Bay Packers Willing To Pay Jonathan Taylor A Massive Contract

According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports:
I’m told both the Dolphins and Packers were both willing to give running back Jonathan Taylor a contract that placed him among the highest-paid running backs in the NFL entering this season, per source.
Despite being unclear exactly what the Packers were offering in exchange for Taylor, a report from All Dolphins implied that the Dolphins were definitely interested in moving the star running back.
Among other assets, the Colts reportedly asked Miami for star wideout Jaylen Waddle, according to The Miami Herald. Miami discussed a variety of deals, including players and draft picks, but details of what they offered remain unclear.
Despite Popular Opinion, The Green Bay Packers Are Willing To Shell Out Big Money

The Packers rarely make a splash in free agency or trades. Julius Peppers and Charles Woodson are the two biggest names the Packers have signed in the last decade and a half. However, that doesn’t mean the Packers aren’t willing to spend big money.
Currently, Jaire Alexander, Kenny Clark, De’Vondre Campbell, David Bakhtiari, and Aaron Jones are all near the top of the league at their position when it comes to size of the contract. The Packers often reward their own draft picks with mega contracts rather than spending in free agency.
It is clear the Packers aren’t afraid to pay Taylor given he is only 24 (the same age as Jordan Love) and is already a proven star. The know they could build their franchise around Love, Watson, and Taylor for years to come.
