It was announced by the Green Bay Packers that they had signed a safety for their last practice squad spot. After The Green Bay Packers had a vacancy available on their practice squad for about a day. This came after the team placed inside linebacker Krys Barnes (ankle) on the injured reserve. Additionally activating former practice squad tackle Caleb Jones to the 53-man roster on Tuesday.
Green Bay Packers Sign S Mike Brown
Brown (6-1, 220) originally signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (Ohio) on May 13. He was released on Aug. 30. In college, he played in 54 games with 39 starts and registered 196 tackles (111 solo), 15½ tackles for a loss, 10 passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and four interceptions. Brown will wear No. 35 for the Packers.
The Packers already roster Safety Micah Abernathy on the practice squad. It will be unclear how soon Brown would see a regular season field if Green Bay needed personnel replenishments. It is interesting that the Packers thought that they needed to add another safety. Following Barnes’ placement on the injured reserve, Green Bay now only has four inside linebackers on either their 53-man roster and practice squad. De’Vondre Campbell, Quay Walker, Isaiah McDuffie and Ray Wilborn (practice squad). On the other hand, the team now has seven safeties on their active roster or practice squad. Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Dallin Leavitt, Rudy Ford and Tariq Carpenter or practice squad Micah Abernathy and now Brown.
