The Green Bay Packers could use help with a pass rush and landing Brian Burns, a defensive lineman from the Carolina Panthers would help matters a lot. This trade was created by Vincent Frank of SportsNaut and the NFL trade deadline this season is October 31.
Carolina is 0-2 to start the 2023 season and everyone else in the NFC South is currently 2-0. The Panthers could very well be sellers at the NFL trade deadline this season, and Brian Burns was in some trade rumors last season. In the first two games of the 2023 season, he has recorded nine tackles, a couple of sacks, and a forced fumble.
Burns is only 25 years old and was a 16th overall pick (first-round selection) in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Brian Burns will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and the Carolina Panthers feel like if they can’t re-sign him, trade him for something instead of not getting anything back at all for him.
Green Bay Packers Could Use a Boost in the Pass Rush Department with Brian Burns
Green Bay landing Burns would help their pass rush big time. A season ago, the Packers finished 28th in the NFL with a total of just 34 sacks, but they have been better this season registering seven sacks in the first two games of the 2023 season.
If the Packers are in the NFC North race and it is very possible they will become the trade deadline, it is worth giving up draft picks and whatever else for him. However, the Green Bay Packers will need to use their wallets for the long term. Burns did not sign a long-term deal with the Carolina Panthers and it appears as if they don’t want to give him the $26-$28 million he is seeking.
This would fit into their plans fine because this is a very young football team. Brian Burns is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL.
Could AJ Dillon or Christian Watson Be on the Move in This Trade As Well?

AJ Dillon and Christian Watson have also been mentioned in trade rumors for other NFL teams throughout the season. With the Carolina Panthers potentially wanting to shop Brian Burns, they are going to want another player in return. Dillon is a free-agent running back at the end of the season, but the player that might make the most sense for the Carolina Panthers is wide receiver, Christian Watson.
Quarterback Bryce Young doesn’t have that go-two wide receiver he is looking for. The Green Bay Packers have other young wide receivers that can contribute and it may take one to trade if they are going to land a top-tier talent like defensive line Brian Burns.
