The Green Bay Packers have moved on from a number of key pieces over the last few seasons. Obviously, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams being traded in back to back off-seasons stole the headlines. However, the 2023 off-season )and season itself) saw the Packers move on from a number of veterans.
One of those veterans got a brand new deal this off-season.
Former Green Bay Packers Star Gets Brand New Contract With New Team
According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:
The Bills are making moves today to get under the salary cap.
Besides cutting safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Siran Neal and offensive lineman Mitch Morse, the Bills plan to restructure cornerback Rasul Douglas’ contract.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the move will save the Bills roughly $2.5 million against their cap.
Douglas played nine games with eight starts after a trade from Green Bay. He totaled four interceptions, eight passes defensed, 29 tackles and a sack for Buffalo.
The Former Packers Cornerback Hit The Ground Running With The Buffalo Bills
Just before the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline the Packers sent CB Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills for a 2024 third round draft pick.
The trade came with some scrutiny at the time given the Packers’ thin secondary. As fate would have it, the secondary remains one of the Packers’ biggest needs one off-season later.
Douglas immediately started making plays for the Bills’ defense and quickly solidified himself as a starter in a talented secondary.
The Bills decided to move on from multiple defensive backs this off-season, but they weren’t going to let the 29-year-old defender walk.
