As the Green Bay Packers prepare for their win-and-in scenario against the Chicago Bears in Week 18 at Lambeau Field, there are a lot of teams battling for playoff positioning as well. While the Packers are fighting for the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoff picture, they also have a shot to move up and claim the No. 6 seed.
Jordan Love and company have officially put themselves back on the map with an impressive run in the second half of the season. He has even worked his way into the borderline MVP conversation.
With that in mind, the Packers are heavily favored to beat the Bears this week. However, Chicago has been playing better of late and are not going to be an easy team to beat. Having a chance to knock Green Bay out of the playoffs is exactly what the Bears have been hoping to have.
Green Bay Packers’ Chances To End Up With No. 6 Seed In NFC, Revealed
Heading into Week 18 against the Bears, the Packers can move up to the No. 6 seed with a win and some other help. However, the chances are not great at making that happen.
Jeremy Reisman, a writer covering the Detroit Lions, revealed the percentage of chances that the Green Bay Packers end up at No. 6 in the playoff standings.
Relevant percentages:
Lions:
– 2 seed: 4.4%
– 3 seed: 95.6%NFC 6 seed probability:
– Rams: 88.2%
– Packers: 11.8% https://t.co/EZqblVgMrf— Jeremy Reisman (@DetroitOnLion) January 1, 2024
While the chances aren’t great, simply having a chance is great news. Being able to move up from No. 7 to No. 6 would be a massive help for the Packers in the playoffs. As long as they can stay away from having to play the San Francisco 49ers would be best.
Either way, the Green Bay Packers have the roster talent to compete with anyone. If they play their game, they are not an easy team to beat.
All of that being said, fans cannot wait to get Week 18 underway. At the very least, beating the Bears to get into the playoffs would be a very sweet feeling.
