If there’s anyone who can provide sound advice for Jordan Love in his transition as the Green Bay Packers’ QB1, it has to be Mac Jones of the New England Patriots. After all, Jones knows a thing or two about succeeding an all-time great quarterback. This is exactly what Jones did after Tom Brady left New England a few years ago, and now, it’s Love who’s in the same situation in Green Bay’s post-Aaron Rodgers era.
Patriots’ Mac Jones Speaks on Packers’ Aaron Rodgers-Jordan Love Transition

Jones recently dropped some sound advice for Jordan Love. The Patriots quarterback was in this exact same position a few years back, so he definitely knows what he’s talking about here:
“Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL,” Jones said (h/t Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston). “So, to follow up on him, it’s trying to chase the standard that he set every day.
“Honestly, we’re definitely two different players. That’s the only advice I’d have: Just continue to grow and be yourself. That’s all you can do is put your best foot forward and compete. But yeah, it’s definitely big shoes to fill.”

Jordan Love Blazing His Own Path

Jones hit the nail on the head here. For his part, the young Patriots QB still has a long way to go before he’s even worthy of being in the same breath as the great Tom Brady. Jones knows that there’s just no chasing the GOAT, so as he said above, all he can do is be himself.
This is exactly what Jordan Love has to do. Much like Jones, Love won’t be able to reach the same heights Rodgers did during his decorated tenure with the Packers. Green Bay’s new cornerstone quarterback has some extremely big shoes to fill and there’s going to be a ton of pressure on his shoulders. At this point, he will have to blaze his own path.
