Another week has come and gone where the Green Bay Packers win and the Minnesota Vikings lose. The Packers scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to win in dramatic fashion during their home opener vs. the New Orleans Saints. Coincidentally the Vikings lost in dramatic fashion at home to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Vikings fell to 0-3 on the year. Not the start that any Vikings fan expected to have. During the Vikings’ last offense drive they failed to put up any points and turned over the ball on downs. Apparently, Kirk Cousins had an issue on the final drive.
Kirk Cousins Had A Problem With The Crowd During The Last Drive Of The Minnesota Vikings’ Loss

Paolo Songco of Gridiron Heroics initially reported on the news:
Cousins spoke to the media after the game, and in a rather surprising turn of events, the veteran QB revealed that the Vikings fans in attendance are pretty much to blame for the loss. Apparently, the crowd got so loud that Cousins couldn’t hear head coach Kevin O’Connell on his headset:
“Just couldn’t hear him with the noise,” Cousins said, via Kevin Seifert of ESPN. “Just ended up calling a play, and the play I called was the same play he was trying to get to.”
Minnesota supporters got a little bit too excited after their team converted a fourth-down late in the final quarter with LA ahead by just four points. They had a real chance to score from the six-yard line, but Cousins just couldn’t hear his coach’s instructions. The four-time Pro Bowler decided to call his own play, which ultimately, ended in disaster.
Cousins did take some of the blame, though. He acknowledged that it was his own decision and that he will just have to live with the loss:
“I mean I could do anything I want,” Cousins said. “I can do the quarterback sneak. I can do whatever I want, but at the same time you also have to deal with the consequences. Against Buffalo last year I snuck it on my own and didn’t get in, so until you know the future it’s hard to know whether to take the reins or not, but I’ve done it before.”
Green Bay Packers Fans Mock Kirk Cousins For Blaming The Noise

It is not very often that you hear a quarterback blame the noise during a loss… when the team played at home. When fans heard this, they reacted on social media accordingly:
Embarrassing answer from a 35 year old vet , mind blowing that you don’t know how to manage clock by now, QB101

I don’t like the last answer. Good question. The default to asking KOC is weird. KC makes a ton of money. You made a call and it didn’t work. Don’t push the blame else where. Own it and grow from it. 0-3 and everyone has to be better.

every high school, college, and pro league has a fire drill to clock it. stop making excuses, you choked, just say it.

Kirk definitely asks his wife for permission to use the bathroom.

A seasoned veteran QB doesn’t need a Headcoach IN THE NFL to tell him that he needs to clock it there. This is a rubbish answer to a non-confident QB. He doesn’t have the “IT” factor if he has to be “told” to clock it. Move along or own it.

Whether it was true or not, Kirk Cousins’ answer didn’t bode well for many fans. We’ll see if the home crowd has a negative effect on the Vikings season again this year.
