Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was happy to meet with the media on Tuesday during OTAs. He did not meet with the media on Monday during that session. Green Bay appears to be in a better spot at this time this year than they were last year.
LaFleur had a lot of questions to answer about the quarterback position. There was a lot of uncertainty transitioning from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Rodgers is a bonafide Hall of Famer and we weren’t sure Love was the answer for the franchise at the most important position.
Jordan Love struggled a little bit last season and then got going towards the end of the season and showed the potential of being the next great franchise quarterback. He showed up to OTAs despite not having a new contract extension yet.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Believes Quarterback Jordan Love Has the Attention Of His Teammates
The leader of your football team needs to have the demand and the respect of your teammates. Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to USA Today Green Bay Packers beat writer Ryan Wood and said:
“Entire team “respects the hell” out of Jordan Love. I just think you feel the confidence from him, the way he projects himself in front of the team. That’s what you expect.”
Last season with the Packers, he completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Jordan Love also rushed for 247 yards on 50 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 4.9 yards per rush.
What’s important is that he has gotten everyone involved in the Packers over the past season. No matter who is in or out of the lineup, he will always trust different teammates. Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks may have been his best options a season ago, but Love is a player who will also trust Christian Watson, Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, and Romeo Doubs.
He also had to trust wide receivers Bo Melton and Malik Heath last season, who were the fifth and sixth wide receivers on the Packers depth chart. Jordan Love is a player that will make it work with any wide receiver or tight end. He has strong leadership on the field and also off the field.
